America R.I.P.

Paul Craig Roberts, Contributor
Activist Post

During the second half of the 20th century the United States was an opportunity society. The ladders of upward mobility were plentiful, and the middle class expanded. Incomes rose, and ordinary people were able to achieve old-age security.

In the 21st century the opportunity society has disappeared. Middle class jobs are scarce. Indeed, jobs of any kind are scarce. To stay even with population growth from 2002 through 2011, the economy needed about 14 million new jobs. However, at the end of 2011 there were only 1 million more jobs than in 2002.

Only 426,000 of these jobs are in the private sector. The bulk of the net new jobs consist of waitresses and bartenders and health care and social assistance. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over the 9 years, employment for waitresses and bartenders increased by 1,188,000. Employment in health care and social assistance increased 3,087,000. These two categories accounted for 1,000% of the net private sector job growth.

As for manufacturing jobs, they not only did not grow with the population but declined absolutely. During these nine years, 3.5 million middle class manufacturing jobs were lost.

Over the entire nine years, only 48,000 new jobs were created for architects and engineers.

In the 21st century the US economy has been able to create only a few new jobs and these are in lowly paid domestic services that cannot be offshored, such as waitresses and bartenders.

The lack of jobs, especially high value-added, high productivity jobs, is the reason real median household income has declined and the distribution of income has worsened. Without rising real household income, there cannot be a consumer economy.

In the early years of the 21st century, the Federal Reserve substituted a rise in consumer debt to drive the economy in place of the missing rise in consumer incomes. Low interest rates drove up housing prices, and people refinanced their mortgages and spent the equity. The Federal Reserve kept the economy alive by loading up consumers with debt that housing prices and consumer incomes would soon be unable to support.

When debt and real estate prices reached unsustainable levels, the bubble popped, and the ongoing financial crisis was upon us.

The cause of all of the problems is the offshoring of Americans’ jobs. When jobs are moved offshore, consumers’ careers and incomes, and the GDP and payroll and income tax base associated with those jobs, go with them. When the goods and services produced for American markets by offshored labor are brought into the US to be sold, the trade deficit rises, and downward pressure is put on the dollar, pushing up domestic inflation. (On October 12, statistician John Williams ( reported that “third-quarter wholesale inflation jumped to an annualized 6.2%.”)

Jobs offshoring is driven by Wall Street, “shareholder advocates,” the threat of takeovers, and by large retailers, such as Walmart. By cutting labor costs, profits go up.It is that simple. However, as a result of sending American jobs to cheap labor countries, US consumer incomes go down. The end result is to destroy the domestic consumer market. What would have been US consumer income growth becomes instead profit growth for US corporations.

Keynesian economists use in their textbooks the example of how the aggregate effect of individual saving could be the opposite of the effect intended by the individuals. Whereas each saver seeks to improve his position by building wealth, in the aggregate saving could exceed investment, resulting in a decline in aggregate demand and a fall in income for all. Offshoring has the same logic. Each corporation can expect to gain more profits from moving US jobs offshore, but the aggregate effect is a fall in American consumer incomes and a reduction in the American consumer market.

I have told this story many times. But policymakers, the media, and economists seem unable to connect the dots.

Jobs offshoring has substantial implications for Social Security and Medicare. The US has the least adequate social safety net of any developed country. The two major components of the US social safety net are Social Security and Medicare for the elderly. Social Security and Medicare are financed by a payroll tax. The combined tax is 15.3% of payrolls. For the past quarter of a century the Social Security portion of the payroll tax has built up a surplus of over $2 trillion. Recently, the Medicare portion began running in the red.

Right-wing Republicans, free market ideologues, and the left-wing have all indoctrinated themselves with incorrect beliefs about Social Security and Medicare. The right-wing claims that a safety net financed with 15.3% of payrolls is a “Ponzi scheme” and an “unfunded liability.” If that is the case, then so are veterans benefits, military pensions, and federal pensions, all of which are financed by the income tax, the basis for the payroll tax.

The left-wing claims that the rich do not pay high enough payroll taxes, because the income subject to Social Security payroll tax is capped at about $110,000. But the benefits are also capped. Social Security is not supposed to be an income redistribution scheme from rich to poor, and it is not supposed to be a pension system for the rich. The pension paid is supposed to correlate with the pre-retirement income level of the retiree. Those who had higher wages or salaries and consequently paid more in payroll taxes receive a larger Social Security check than those who had lower wages and salaries and paid less payroll taxes, although there is favoritism toward the lower income earners who receive proportionally more in respect to their payroll taxes than higher income earners.

There is no cap on income subject to the Medicare portion of the payroll tax. Moreover, Medicare charges a Medicare Part B premium that is deducted from the Social Security monthly check. In addition, there is a further Part B premium based on retirement age income. For example, someone working beyond retirement age and making $250,000 per year pays about $3,800 in Medicare Part B premium in addition to the Medicare portion of the payroll tax of about $7,500. The annual premium he pays for his “free” Medicare for which he has paid all his working life with a payroll tax is about $11,300.

Moreover, Medicare by itself is insufficient coverage. To actually have medical coverage, those covered by Medicare have to purchase a supplementary private policy to cover the large gaps in Medicare. Depending on the range of coverage, a supplementary policy costs approximately $100 to $300 per month.

As the person making $250,000 per year is likely to go for the most coverage, he will be paying about $14,900 (excluding deductions and co-payments) per year for his “free” Medicare. This is despite having paid the Medicare payroll tax each year of his working life. A person who made $250,000 in taxable income per year for 30 years would have paid $217,500 into Medicare at the current Medicare payroll tax rate.

The right-wing’s notion that Social Security and Medicare are handouts, part of the welfare state’s bread and circuses, and the left-wing’s idea that the rich get a free ride are equally untrue.

(Note: $250,000 is the politicians’ dividing line between the rich and the rest of us. For a person making $50,000 a year, an income five times larger can seem rich. However, a $250,000 annual income leaves a family or person far distant from the lifestyle of the rich. Upper middle class incomes are generally associated with high-tax, high-cost urban areas in states with high income taxes. After federal income and payroll taxes, state income and sales taxes, and property taxes, what appears to many as a large income disappears. In New York City, the federal income tax will take about 25% of the $250,000, New York state will take about 9%, and New York City will take about 3.65%. The combined city and state sales tax is 8.875%. The property tax is high. The conclusion is that in New York City a $250,000 income is reduced to $125,000 or thereabouts. Those who claim “the rich don’t pay taxes” are not talking about $250,000 incomes.)

Social Security and Medicare have served the country well. They protect the individual from his own mistakes, from crooked and incompetent money managers, and from financial crises, and they protect society from the moral dilemma of confronting large numbers of fellow citizens who through fault or no fault of their own cannot provide for their livelihood and medical care. After the financial scandals and crisis of the past five years, it is a stretch to believe that any but the astute can manage their personal wealth, whether small or large, in today’s situation of unregulated financial markets, zero interest rates, currency uncertainty, and highly complex investment instruments with computers programmed with mathematical models dominating equity trades.

The argument that conceptually a person could do better by investing his payroll taxes in the stock market is a poor basis for old age security policy. The person can do better as long as he or she doesn’t fall into the hands of a Bernie Madoff or a Goldman Sachs, doesn’t receive zero interest on his bonds because the Federal Reserve has to bail out the “too big to fail banks,” doesn’t experience a decline in currency value due to monetization of enormous federal deficits, and doesn’t experience a bear market as he approaches retirement.

The right-wing ideologues who try to scare old age security out of existence go on and on about rising medical costs, about an aging population living longer, declining birthrates and a worsening ratio of workers to retirees, about people learning to rely on handouts rather than their own means, and about Washington’s rising unfunded liabilities.

Scare projections are designed to scare, and most are untenable. For example, longevity was a product of rising incomes, good diet, and antibiotics. Today only the upper crust have rising incomes. Antibiotics are wearing out from abuse and rising immunity of bacteria. Diet is compromised in ways still poorly understood as a result of GMOs, pesticides, herbicides, pumping chicken, pork, and beef full of antibiotics and hormones and feeding the animals GMO grains and also possibly infected animal byproducts, and pumping our water full of fluoride. A variety of destructive activities and behaviors are causing ecological damage. Longevity might have been a short-term benefit of irreproducible conditions considering the mounting ecological damage and the rise of superbugs, stress, and tainted food and water production.

The projection of an aging population might also be wrong. Clearly, the post-World War II baby boomers are aging, but do the projections take into account the legislated 1965 immigration increases plus the illegal influx from Mexico and points south of young people with high birth rates? How can it be that a country with allegedly 30 million illegal immigrants, whose children born in the US are citizens, has a declining birth rate? How do we know that the illegal population will not continue to increase?

There are so many Spanish speaking people in the US today that if a person calls any of his utility companies, whether telephone, Internet, water, electricity, TV, or any of his credit card companies, or his bank, he has to select English or Spanish. Obviously, as
anti-immigration sites make clear, the US population is changing in its national origin, and there appears to be no sign of an aging Hispanic population. How many old Spanish speaking people do you see in the US compared to the young?

When confronted with this apparent fact, the response is: “why will the Hispanics pay for the aging white population?” The answer is: because they are in the same payroll tax system and the taxes will be withheld from their wages and salaries just as they are from everyone else’s.

It is possible that if Hispanics in the US have suffered years of hostility, accusations, and hatred from “the ice people,” once Hispanics are sufficiently numerous to control the legislature, assuming one still exists, or to take over the executive branch, the only seat of power, they may in retribution cut off the aging whites. But if so, the whites will have brought it on themselves.

Whatever the scare projections that are mustered to undermine the public provision of old age security, the real financial danger is never mentioned. The only significant financial danger to Social Security and Medicare is the offshoring of American jobs and GDP. A country without a job base is without a payroll tax base. If the only jobs that the 21st century “world’s only superpower” economy can create are for waitresses, bartenders, and health care and social assistance (hospital orderlies and practical nurses), payroll tax revenues will be less than if the US still had 20 million workers and rising in well-paid manufacturing jobs instead of 11 million.

Regardless of Medicare’s financing, the death knell for the elderly was the legality of abortion. If the yet to be born are an insufferable burden, imagine the cost of the elderly. As far as the state is concerned, once you stop producing income and payroll tax revenues for the state, it is time for you to die. Washington would rather enact euthanasia than to pay back the $2+ trillion in the Social Security trust fund that Washington spent, leaving only non-marketable IOUs in the account.

Readers might think that Americans would never stand for death by injection for the elderly once the qualified age is reached. But why would they not? They have accepted millions of aborted babies, and Americans, including the elderly, have stood for Washington’s murder, maiming and displacement of millions of Muslim men, women, and children in 7 countries over the past 11 years and are yet to show any signs of remorse for their complicity in mass murder. Next month tens of millions of Americans will vote for Mitt Romney who believes Obama isn’t killing Muslims fast enough.

The new “Obamneycare” health legislation does have “death panels.” They are not called that, and they do not make formal decisions to terminate lives. But it comes to almost the same thing. Various panels, committees, or bureaucratic departments are empowered to make decisions about “effective care.” It has long been known that most health care costs are associated with the last year of life. Cost and age will be elements in determining standards of care. The greater the weight assigned to cost, the more care will be withheld. In effect, the “effective care” panel is a “death panel.”

Prior to the advent of the new “health care” system, Medicare and or hospitals are already shifting costs to Medicare patients. To avoid penalties and fraud allegations for “medically unnecessary hospitalizations,” rather than formally admit Medicare patients as inpatients, hospital administrators classify them as outpatients “under observation.”
According to a Brown University analysis of Medicare records in 2007, 2008, and 2009, the ratio of Medicare observation patients to those admitted as inpatients rose by 34 percent.

Being classified an outpatient under observation eliminates medicare coverages, especially for post-operative or post-accident rehabilitation care, leaving Medicare patients with bills in the tens of thousands of dollars (AARP Bulletin, October 2012).

Other costs are being shifted to doctors and to hospitals. Medicare pays fixed prices for each covered procedure or test, and these prices can be as low as half of the billed prices. During a period when costs incurred by providers of health care have been rising, Medicare has been cutting the amounts it pays providers.

As the payroll tax is commingled with general tax revenues, Social Security and Medicare payroll tax collections can be diverted to other purposes and, thus, are always subject to competing budgetary demands, such as the previous 11 years of gratuitous wars and the bailouts of “banks too big to fail,” or to deficit reduction demands as the government consistently overspends all revenue sources.

A national health service is the only way to control health costs and provide the population with health care coverage. A national health system takes the many levels of profits out of the system and also reams of compliance and liability costs. A national health system can coexist with a private system for those who can afford it or whose employers are sufficiently profitable to provide it.

As Jarad Diamond reveals in his book, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, societies fail, if not because of their moral bankruptcy, then because their rulers are only capable of short-term thinking. The future is beyond their interest. The US offshored its economy, because it worked short-term for corporate executives (rewarded with multi-million dollar performance bonuses), Wall Street (rewarded with profits), shareholders (rewarded with capital gains), and politicians (rewarded with corporate and Wall Street campaign contributions).

Incompetent free market economists confused jobs offshoring with free trade. They said the country would and was benefiting by giving its manufacturing, industrial, and tradable professional service jobs to China and India, that the US was ridding itself of “dirty fingernail jobs” and would soon be flush with highly paid high-tech jobs and highly paid financial service jobs.

None of these promises or predictions were true. Nowhere in the government’s jobs statistics are there any of these promised replacement jobs. The economists who provided cover for the destruction of the US economy were rewarded by the corporations with speaking fees, grants for their university departments, and newspaper columns paid for by corporate advertisers. Those few who told the truth were expelled from the corporate media that Bill and Hilary Clinton allowed to be monopolized (for campaign contributions, of course).

The future of old age security in the United States has been lost, because the job base has been given away to foreigners in order to maximize incomes in the short-run for the few decision-makers.

The misrepresentation of jobs offshoring as free trade has destroyed the prospects of cities, counties, and states along with those of unions and millions of Americans who once had a secure future. It has destroyed the prospects of class after class of university graduates burdened with student loans who expected to step into the jobs that have been offshored or filled by H-1B visa holders from abroad.

The American work force has been forsaken by the corporations and by Washington, and this means that Social Security and Medicare have also been forsaken.

As I predicted in the early years of this new century, “the United States will be a third world country in 20 years.” We might get there even sooner as Washington exhausts what little is left of American wealth in gratuitous wars in service to Israel and the US Military/Security Complex, in unaffordable military buildups in futile hopes of establishing hegemony over China and Russia, and in negative interest rates from the Federal Reserve’s effort to drive up the book value of debt instruments on the balance sheets of financial institutions.

In 1817 Percy Bysshe Shelly forecast America’s future:

“I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read,
Which yet survive, stampt on these lifeless things,
The hand that mockt them and the heart that fed:
On the pedestal these words appear:
‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

Writing in the October 15 online CounterPunch, John V. Walsh, relying on charts prepared by economics professor Mark J. Perry at the University of Michigan and blogger John Hunter, concludes that it is a myth that US manufacturing is in decline.

Walsh says that the loss of US manufacturing jobs is due to automation, not to offshoring. Think about this for a moment. Perry’s graph on which Walsh relies shows the sharp drop in US manufacturing employment to be a 21st century experience. However, automation has been around for a long time. The notion that its effect on employment only showed up recently needs an explanation that is not provided. The steep drop in US manufacturing employment that began in 2000 does correspond with the date at which jobs offshoring began to bite hard.

Why does automation not also affect Chinese manufacturing, especially as most of the Chinese manufacturing technology came from the US as US corporations offshored their production for the US market? If Chinese manufacturing is not up to date with automation, like the US is assumed to be, how do the Chinese, even with cheap labor, undersell US automated factories? How did Chinese manufacturing employment increase in a mere four years by an amount equal to the total manufacturing employment in the US?

The US Bureau of Economic Analysis shows only 11.2 million full time US manufacturing jobs in 2010. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows 11.7 million US manufacturing jobs in 2011, down from 15.3 million in 2002.

In contrast, China, an industrial and manufacturing backwater for most of my life, had 112 million manufacturing jobs in 2006. In a mere four years (2002-2006), the increase in China’s manufacturing employment was as large as today’s total employment in US manufacturing. As long ago as 2006, China’s manufacturing employment was about 10 times the current US manufacturing employment. The Chinese population is about 4 times larger than the US population, but China’s manufacturing population is proportionately greater–10 times larger. Indeed, Chinese manufacturing employees almost equal the total number of employees in all occupations in the US (Manufacturing and Technology News, December 15, 2009).

Obviously, something is wrong with Walsh’s article or the graphs on which he relied.

America’s manufacturing prowess cannot be found in the statistical data. The US is primarily an exporter of Agricultural commodities. The US imports almost twice the amount of manufactured goods as it exports. Indeed, according to the US Census Bureau Statistical Abstract of the US US imports of manufactured goods are 5.5 times larger than US imports of crude oil and 4 times larger than all imports of mineral fuel. Yet, we hear about energy dependency, not manufacturing dependency.

As of 2010 the “superpower” US economy still had a trade surplus in airplanes and airplane parts and a small $6 billion surplus in scientific instruments, but that is about all.

In ADP equipment and office machinery, the US exported $22.2 billion in 2010 (latest information at time of writing), down from $44.6 billion in 2000. US imports in 2010 of ADP equipment and office machinery were $113.5 billion, or 5.1 times exports.

The US cannot even make its own clothes and shoes. In 2010 footwear imports are 28.7 times exports. Clothing imports are 24.6 times exports.

Electrical machinery exports were $77 billion; imports were $120 billion.

Exports of power generating machinery were $33 billion; imports were $42 billion.

Exports of television, VCRs were $21.5 billion; imports were $137 billion.

US exports of vehicles was $88 billion; imports were $179 billion.

US news reports of thousands upon thousands of discharged US workers never cite their replacement by automation. The news story is always that the plant is being closed and the jobs moved abroad. Any review of America’s former manufacturing centers verifies this. Boarded up plants and cities and towns in decline are the remains of America’s formerly world dominant manufacturing economy.

The loss of the US post-war trade surplus in manufacturing has left the US with a huge trade deficit. The charts on which Walsh relied left him unaware of the fact that China has a large trade surplus with the US, and the US has a large trade deficit not only with China but with the world.

The fact that the US has to import not only manufactured goods, but also high-technology products from China, an inconceivable outcome during the second half of the 20th century, is powerful testimony to the decline of the US as a manufacturing powerhouse.

It took some doing to obscure the facts and to present the US as a rival to China in manufacturing prowess. How did it happen?

The fault might lie in the way statistical information is collected and presented. Apple, for example, is a US corporation. It reports its worldwide earnings to the IRS. Its manufacturing is counted as US manufacturing as it is a US corporation. However, Apple doesn’t produce a single computer in the US. They are produced in China. The employment that Apple reports is in China. The Chinese are employed by an American company, but they are not Americans. The Chinese incomes that Apple provides do not support the American consumer market or provide the tax base for cities and states. The Chinese incomes do not provide ladders of upward mobility or careers for Americans.

The wages Apple pays are in China. The consumer incomes and GDP that it generates are in China. When Apple’s computers come back to America to be sold they come in as imports. But Apple’s manufacturing and employment are reported as the output and employment of an American company.

When statistics and the methods by which they are compiled were put into effect, countries did not offshore their production for their domestic markets. Foreign investments were made for selling abroad, not for selling in the home market. With the advent of offshoring, counting the employment and output of US firms that are producing abroad for their domestic market as an indication of the strength of US manufacturing is very misleading. Apple, for example, has done more to boost China’s GDP than to boost America’s GDP. This is true of every US corporation that offshores its production for US consumers.

In recent years the percentage of the work forces of large US corporations that is foreign sourced has risen rapidly. Some of the overseas hiring reflects traditional foreign investment in which a company builds abroad in order to sell abroad, but much of the hiring reflects offshored production for US markets.

The US has been able to survive the large trade deficits produced by jobs offshoring, because the US dollar is the world reserve currency. Being the world reserve currency, the US does not have to earn foreign currencies with exports in order to pay for its imports. However, as these trade deficits persist and the buildup of foreign holdings of dollar paper assets rises, there is a diminishing willingness of foreigners to trade real goods and services for financial assets denominated in a fiat currency whose value is diminishing with the ever-growing supply.

Thus, the basic notion of globalism–that a country’s corporations can produce goods and services in any country for home markets–is false.

Walsh is correct that China is not to blame for the decline in US manufacturing. Offshoring is to blame, and, thus, the blame lies with US corporations, policymakers, and the economists and financial media who shill for “globalism.” The decision was made to sacrifice the US economy to the short-term profits of the few. A country so poorly led can do nothing but decline.

» In Amerika there will never be a real debate

By: Paul Craig Roberts| October 24, 2012 | Categories: Articles & Columns | Tags: amerika obama,

God help them if Obama and Romney ever had to participate in a real debate about a real issue at the Oxford Union. They would be massacred.

The “debates” revealed that not only the candidates but also the entire country is completely tuned out to every real problem and dangerous development. For example, you would never know that US citizens can now be imprisoned and executed without due process. All that is required to terminate the liberty and life of an American citizen by his own government is an unaccountable decision somewhere in the executive branch.

No doubt that Americans, if they think of this at all, believe that it will only happen to terrorists who deserve it. But as no evidence or due process is required, how would we know that it only happens to terrorists? Can we really trust a government that has started wars in 7 countries on the basis of falsehoods? If the US government will lie about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction in order to invade a country, why won’t it lie about who is a terrorist?

America needs a debate about how we can be made more safe by removing the Constitutional protection of due process. If the power of government is not limited by the Constitution, are we ruled by Caesar? The Founding Fathers did not think we could trust a caesar with our safety. What has changed that we can now trust a caesar?

If we are under such a terrorist threat that the Constitution has to be suspended or replaced by unaccountable executive action, how come all the alleged terrorist cases are sting operations organized by the FBI? In eleven years there has not been a single case in which the “terrorist” had the initiative!

In the eleven years since 9/11, acts of domestic terrorism have been miniscule if they even exist. What justifies the enormous and expensive Department of Homeland Security? Why does Homeland Security have military-equipped Special Response Teams with armored vehicles? Who are the targets of these militarized units? If eleven years of US government murder, maiming, and displacement of millions of Muslims hasn’t provoked massive acts of domestic terrorism, why is Homeland Security creating a domestic armed force of its own? Why are there no congressional hearings and no public discussion? How can a government whose budget is deep in the red afford a second military force with no defined and Constitutionally legal purpose?

What is Homeland Security’s motivation in creating a Homeland Youth? Is the new FEMA Corps a disguise for a more sinister purpose, a Hitler Youth as Internet sites suggest? Are the massive ammunition purchases by Homeland Security related to the raising of a nationwide corps of 18- to 24-year-olds? How can so much be going on in front of our eyes with no questions asked?

Why did not Romney ask Obama why he is working to overturn the federal court’s ruling that US citizens cannot be subject to indefinite detention in violation of the US Constitution? Is it because Romney and his neoconservative advisers agree with Obama and his advisers? If so, then why is one tyrant better than another?

Why has the US constructed a network of detainment camps, for which it is hiring “internment specialists”?

Why does the US Army now have a policy for “establishing civilian inmate labor programs and civilian prison camps on Army installations”?

Here is Rachel Maddow’s report on how Obama criticizes the neoconservative Bush/Cheney regime for violations of the US Constitution and US statutory law and then proposes the same thing himself.

How did the presidential debates avoid the fact of Predator Drones flying over us here in the domestic United States of America? What is the purpose of this? Why are the smallest police forces in the most remote of locations being equipped with armored cars? I have seen them. In small lilly-white communities north of Atlanta, Georgia, communities of sub-million dollar MacMansions have militarized police with armored cars and automatic weapons. SWAT teams in full military gear are everywhere. What is it all about? These small semi-rural areas will never see a terrorist or experience a hostage situation. Yet, they are all armed to the teeth. They are so heavily armed that they could be sent into combat against the Third Reich or the Red Army.

Any such questions run afoul of the assumption of America’s moral perfection. No such debate will ever happen. But if “it is the economy, stupid,” why is there no economic debate?

Last month the Federal Reserve announced QE3. If QE1 and QE2 did not work, why does anyone, including the Federal Reserve chairman, think that QE3 will work?

Yet, the utterly irrational financial markets, which haven’t a clue about anything, were overjoyed at QE3. This can only be because what rules the equity market is propaganda, spin, and disinformation, not facts. The vaunted stock market is incapable of making any correct decision. The decisions are made by the fools in the market operating on a short-run basis. The only safe path to take is to run with the lemmings. This strategy insures that a portfolio manager is always in the middle of his peers and, therefore, he doesn’t lose clients.

How wonderful it would have been for Obama and Romney to have confronted in a real debate how QE3, designed to help insolvent “banks too big to fail,” can help households operating, with two earners, on real incomes of 45 years ago, which is where the current real median household income stands.

How does saving a bank, designated as “too big to fail,” help the family whose jobs or main job has been exported to China or India in order to maximize corporate profits, executive performance bonuses and shareholders’ capital gains?

Obviously the working population of the US has been sacrificed to the profits of the mega-rich.

An appropriate debate question is: Why has the livelihood of working Americans been sacrificed to the profits of the mega-rich?

No such question will ever be asked in a “presidential debate.”

In the 21st century, US citizens became nonentities. They are brutalized by the police whose incomes their taxes pay. They, for protesting some injustice or for no cause at all, are beaten, arrested, tasered and even murdered. The police, paid by the public, beat up paralyzed people in wheel chairs, frame those who call them for help against criminals, taser grandmothers and small children, and shoot down in cold blood unarmed citizens who have done nothing except lose control of themselves, either through alcohol, drugs, or rage.

Brainwashed Americans pay large taxes at every level of government for protection against gratuitous violence, but what their taxes support is gratuitous violence against themselves. Every American, except for the small number of mega-rich who control Washington, can be arrested and dispossessed, both liberty and property, on the basis of nothing but an allegation of a member of the executive branch who might want the accused’s wife, girlfriend, property, or to settle a score, or to exterminate a rival, or to score against a high school, college, or business rival.

In America today, law serves the powerful, not justice. In effect, there is no law, and there is no justice. Only unaccountable power.

What is the point of a vote when the outcome is the same? Both candidates represent the interests of Israel, not the interests of the US. Both candidates represent the interests of the military/security complex, agribusiness, the offshoring corporations, the suppression of unions and workers, the total demise of civil liberty and the US Constitution, which is in the way of unbridled executive power .

In the US today, the power of money rules. Nothing else is in the equation. Why vote to lend your support to the continuation of your own exploitation? Every time Americans vote it is a vote for their own obliteration.

» Obamneycare Converts Health Care Into Profits

By: Paul Craig Roberts| October 19, 2012 | Categories: Articles & Columns | Tags: obamneycare converts health,

In the guest section there is a new contribution by Dr. Robert S. Dotson. He points out that Obamneycare is two versions of the same thing. A person has to be gullible and uninformed to believe the claims of Obama and Romney that their replacements for Medicare will save money and improve care. What the schemes do is convert public monies into private profits.

The exploding costs described by Dr. Dotson and the rising profits for private corporations are paid for by reducing health care. For example, Betsy McCaughey, former lieutenant governor of New York, writing in Investors Business Daily reports that “On Oct. 1, the Obama administration started awarding bonus points to hospitals that spend the least on elderly patients.” The result will be fewer knee and hip replacements, angioplasty, bypass surgery, and cataract operations. These procedures transformed aging by allowing the elderly, who formerly languished in wheelchairs and nursing homes, to lead active lives.

Obamacare rolls back the clock. “By cutting $716 billion from future Medicare funding over the next decade and rewarding the hospitals that spend the least on seniors, the Obama health law will make these procedures hard to get and less safe.” Doctors will be paid less to treat a senior on Medicare than to treat someone on Medicaid, a poverty program that is not financed by the payroll tax. McCaughry reports that doctors will be paid only one-third as much for treating Medicare patients as for treating a patient with subsidized private insurance and that Obamacare means that hospitals will have $247 billion less over the next decade to care for the same number of seniors.

According to McCaughey, prior to Obama raiding Medicare in order to subsidize the price of health policies sold by private insurance companies, Medicare was already paying hospitals only 91 cents for every dollar of care provided. The way Obamacare saves money is by cutting back care for the elderly and shortening their lives. As I pointed out in my last article, Obamacare is a death panel.

This doesn’t mean that Romneycare is any better. Conservatives like to pretend that the private sector is always more efficient and less corrupt than the public sector, and that replacing Medicare with vouchers toward the purchase price of a private insurance company will lower costs and improve care.

As Romney’s scheme has not appeared in federal legislation, we don’t know all the ways the interest groups would game the voucher system. However, the voucher system would add to costs by adding another level of profits. Unless the private insurance companies are to become administrators for the government and be protected from Wall Street organized takeovers for not earning high enough profits, the policies sold by the insurance companies will have profit in them.

Also, conservatives make a great deal to do about Medicare being unfunded, but what is there to fund Obamneycare except the payroll tax that funds Medicare? Obamneycare depends on the government handing out subsidies or vouchers for the purchase of private insurance policies. Neither scheme is any more funded than Medicare.

Some conservatives seem to think that because private policies are involved that health care becomes funded. What Obamneycare does is to steal from Medicare in order to finance Medicaid and private insurance policies. Both plans raise costs, reduce care for the elderly, and divert tax dollars away from health care to private profits.

Let’s examine the erroneous conservative belief that if health care is provided privately, without any government subsidies, it is funded, whereas Medicare is not funded. To pay the premium on a private policy, a person has to have an income. The premiums are thus funded by the earned income stream. If the person loses his or her job, or becomes incapacitated and cannot work, the person cannot pay the premium and the policy can no longer be funded. If the person is elderly and lacks sufficient retirement income to pay the high cost of private health insurance for the elderly, the person’s health care is no longer funded.

Medicare is funded by the same earned income stream that funds private insurance policies. Instead of paying a premium to a private company, the worker pays a payroll tax that funds his health care regardless of his employment or level of retirement income.

Conservatives claim that under Medicare, the young have to pay for the elderly. However, the young become old in turn, so the intergenerational aspect is simply a part of the human life cycle. It is the same with private medical coverage. The healthy (usually the young) pay for the sick (usually the elderly). Private insurance has an actuarial basis. Actuaries calculate premiums and risk so that the total premiums can accommodate the claims of the percentage of policyholders who become ill. The notion is false that a person with a private policy is paying for his own health care unlike a person on Medicare.

A favorite “cost-saving” scheme is to raise the retirement age for Medicare. As Dave Lindorff points out in CounterPunch (printed edition, Oct. 1-15, 2012), 90% of the cost of the Medicare program each year goes to pay for the care of the oldest 10 percent of Medicare patients. Those aged 65-70 are the most fit and cost the least. Moving the retirement age up doesn’t save any real money. It just violates the contract and takes away the coverage for which people paid during their working life.

Obamneycare takes decisions out of the hands of patients and health care providers. It reduces care for the elderly. It imposes intrusive controls and data collecting and reporting. As care providers witness care withheld and the elderly confined to wheelchairs and nursing homes and early graves, health care providers will have to become as hardened as workers in slaughter houses, or the system will implode.

Already 59% of US doctors say that they prefer a single-payer national health care system to the corporate form of medicine that has turned them into wage slaves who have to ration the time they spend with patients and the amount of care that they prescribe.

If Obama’s subsidies and Romney’s vouchers are not indexed to medical inflation, Obamneycare will provide diminishing care as the years go by. As jobs offshoring has stripped the country of middle class job growth, the incomes earned by waitresses, bartenders, hospital orderlies, and Walmart’s part-time workers will not cover shelter, food, transportation, and health care.

When Obama sold out his supporters to the insurance companies, Obama supporters lined up with the pretense that diverting Medicare money to private profits was an improvement over the current system. Obama supporters have now invested so much emotional capital in Obama’s assault on Medicare that they pretend there is some meaningful difference between Obamacare’s government subsidized private insurance policies and Romneycare’s government subsidized private medical insurance vouchers.

While the two sides yell and scream at one another, the concrete hardens around the new common policy of shorter lives for the elderly and more profits for private corporations.

Although no one in either party can define the US mission in the seven countries in which the US is conducting military aggression, wars of choice that according to Joseph Stiglitz and Linda Bilmes have already cost US taxpayers $6 trillion in out of pocket and already incurred future costs, there is no discussion of halting the wars and diverting armaments industry profits to the health care of the US population.

Thus, we are left with Dr. Dotson’s conclusion that Americans are governed for the benefit of corporate profits. Americans’ lives, health, incomes, careers, prospects, none of this matters. Only corporate profits.

Breaking: Romney’s “Bain Capital” Drug Front For Bush Cartel (Video)

Romney Candidacy Takes Major Blow as Bain Exposed as Cartel Cash Laundry

by  Gordon Duff, Senior Editor

I can’t guarantee the video you will see will save your grandchildren or bring back our freedoms. What I can guarantee is this:  Anyone who sees this will demand the immediate arrest of Mitt Romney and the entire Bush drug cartel.

[A Long Editors Note: This material is as much a disgrace to American media as anything else, on top of the Intel community who has sat by and watched these high level criminal organizations operate with government and even Intel protection. They were warned that the deeper the shadow gov guys got their hooks in the more aggressive they would be in ‘what they wanted’. But cowardice was the word.
YouTube – Veterans Today –

All those that took their phony oaths chose to keep enjoying their own gravy train ride to retirement and join the multiple pension and paycheck brigade, which has turned out to be what way to many of them were serving. We are now in a much worse situation, looking down a double barreled coup in action. Bush 911 was first, now the Romney ‘cleaners’.

The Bush family went to great lengths to hide their long time shady dealings, but Romney’s sliding by on his with all of this stuff just laying out there for anyone to find who wanted to. It’s proof that investigative journalism has been co-opted. Only ‘permitted’ kind is allowed, and against ‘approved targets’ only.

We are truly showing the signs of a defeated people, a la the last days of Rome. The main difference of course is that there are no barbarian hordes coming. It’s the folks wearing the white robes and olive twine tiaras who are putting it to us. There is some resistance, and it is growing, but the door is still locked for any legal solution as law enforcement has also been compromised. So far, they refuse to prosecute ‘protected entities’. Actually their terminology for it is ‘they just can’t’.

They will not move when they fear their being taken out as a 99% certainty. And they don’t see the public lifting a finger to defend them, so the folks do not get off scott free here. If you want a champion to fight for you, you have to be able to offer them some protection, like if anything happens to them or their families there would be ‘hell to pay for it’.

The 99% certainly of retribution is a weapon that the public has not shown the gumption to pick up yet. And yes, the main line vet orgs, churches, academia, are AWOL, the ‘not my job man’ attitude ruling there.

The Vet orgs will not even take on Homeland Security for looting counter terrorism funding (the Fusion Center scandal) for patronage, and then leaving combat vets with PTSD waiting six months for an appointment due to shrink personnel shortages and funding. They won’t even discuss Israeli espionage here, period.

If everybody keeps waiting for someone else to do the tough work and get a free ride they will find themselves on a highway to hell. There are a lot of people around the world further down this road than we are. Maybe we should interview some to share what it is like for those having a hard time ‘getting it’ over here

As Mike Harris says on almost all of his radio shows, “Nobody is going to save us, folks. Either we do it, or it won’t get done.” ...Jim W. Dean]

The slide chosen from the video is a favorite.  There is a reason for that, it is appropriate.  The video deals with one aspect of Romney’s character and how he earned the trust of some very dangerous people.

I am trusted by a select group of special operations personnel because I have shown myself capable of acts I may now regret, acts done, theoretically, in defense of my country. I now question those things, were I to do less, I would be less than human.  “Less than human,” that has a ring to it.

The film is made by someone making all the right assumptions about Romney, that he would not be where is he unless he had done something to earn the trust of, well, of the absolutely worst people on earth.

It’s worse than you can even imagine

He has proven himself “one of them,” a man who has shown there is nothing he won’t do, a man who has proven he has no respect for human life, no consideration for humanity whatsoever.

He is a man in the image of Dick Cheney and Henry Kissinger, a man of the “Bush” mold, a “superior man,” one of the Nietzsche crowd that looks on us, on our children and grandchildren and sees only “useless eaters “, not even cannon fodder.

To “Mitt,” throwing us into gas chambers would be considered too much of a courtesy or bother.  If you feel I am overstating, you obviously didn’t see the film.

Recent talk has been about civil war. I have watched Americans who stood for honor and decency murdered, imprisoned, poisoned, put in mental hospitals, destroyed economically while the nation has been systematically looted.

This is a 40 minute video. Send it to everyone you know.  Watch the whole thing.

[Editors Note: At 37:45 you will see the Romney campaign issuing a damning statement of Obama’s failure to protect America overseas, only TWO minutes after Secretary Clinton gave her first press conference, and Romney’s people said the entire foreign policy team concurred with the attack tactic…Jim W. Dean]

If you want to know who the enemy is, why Americans need guns and who we will have to fight, watch it. If you want the assurance that a war is coming and it is going to be against each and every decent American, you will learn the facts right here.

I don’t care if Obama was born on the moon, I don’t care if Clinton did pages three at a time.

Like many Americans involved in that “secret world,” I was called on from time to time to clean up messes, sometimes for big shots, sometimes for Bush family members, sometimes for others who made simple mistakes, murdered the wrong hooker, kidnapped and killed the wrong kid or stole a few billion dollars of the wrong person’s money.

No, none of this really happens, life is all “Duty, Honor, Country,” just like it says on West Point, the place where General Myer graduated from.

Ask me why I would take the bulldozer used by the IDF to murder Rachel Corrie, something every American should learn about, and start in Washington until we have to rebuild the whole thing.

We can walk away, my generation, the Vietnam generation, knowing we have been the worst generation in history, selling our souls, mortgaging future generations for centuries to  come.

We have done little more than this since 1980 and, just perhaps, if all of us have to lose more than we already have, even if it is our lives, we still will not have balanced the scales.

I’m not leaving America and I’m not living here with drug dealers, murderers and traitors running this country. I’m also not prepared to stay as quiet as I have been, playing along silently.

I call on every American sworn to service, police, all military, every state, municipal and federal employee, every person of decency, everyone who has lost much or taken too much while others have suffered. This has to end and end now.

Before Time runs out on all of US …

By W. J. Anthony

An Israeli or a US attack on the lawful nuclear energy processing industry of Iran is imminent within the next several weeks, and the consequence of that mistake may lead humanity to the catastrophe of World War Three.

It is most appropriate for Americans to now realize what US participation in an attack on Iran would exactly mean and what would Americans be protecting?  Would Americans’ role be to protect the apartheid policy of horrific unlawful conditions that the Israeli Government has imposed on non-Jews for over 60 years in Palestine?

Is there an alternative?   Consider the article “Dismantling Israeli Apartheid”  in the link:

Implosion of Syria Myths a ‘Nervous Breakdown’ for US, Allies

Daniel McAdams
October 18, 2012

The New York Times has finally reported what many watching the Syria insurgency have noticed all along: US-facilitated weapons shipments are ending up in the hands of radical jihadists. Of course while getting those facts right, the NYT, blinded as it is by ideology, gets the conclusion wrong. The Times has for some time been pushing the line that the US must act fast militarily in Syria lest the mythical “people’s uprising” be hikacked by radicals. In short, they have been — surprise — distorting facts to propagandize for war. The NYT line is that US “inaction” on Syria is leading to the radicalization of the rebels. Earlier this month the Times reported/opined that:

“Many Saudi and Qatari officials now fear that the fighting in Syria is awakening deep sectarian animosities and, barring such intervention, could turn into an uncontrollable popular jihad with consequences far more threatening to Arab governments than the Afghan war of the 1980s.”

Now we get the news from the Times that:

“‘The opposition groups that are receiving the most of the lethal aid are exactly the ones we don’t want to have it,’ said one American official familiar with the outlines of those findings, commenting on an operation that in American eyes has increasingly gone awry.”

Then the Times pushes its propagandistic conclusion to color the facts according to its own ideology:

“That conclusion, of which President Obama and other senior officials are aware from classified assessments…casts into doubt whether the White House’s strategy of minimal and indirect intervention in the Syrian conflict is accomplishing its intended purpose of helping a democratic-minded opposition topple an oppressive government, or is instead sowing the seeds of future insurgencies hostile to the United States.” (emphasis added)

Ah yes, the fault is all with the “minimal and indirect” intervention of the US in the conflict. Surely a Libya-type operation would already be reaping US foreign policy the same kinds of rewards we are getting in Libya!

So what is the truth? The truth is hard to swallow for the propagandizing media and the propagandized public: Assad was telling the truth when he told Barbara Walters in an interview earlier this year:

“Not everybody in the street was fighting for freedom. You have different components, you have extremists, religious extremists…like-minded people of Al Qaeda… [F]rom the very first few weeks we had those terrorists they are getting more and more aggressive, they have been killing. We have 1,000– over 1,100 soldiers and policeman killed, who killed them? peaceful demonstrators? This is not logical.”

Of course no one wanted to listen to him because he, like Saddam, Milosevic, Gaddafi, etc before him, had been branded a “madman” in the media. Who could listen to a madman? Who could possibly negotiate with a madman? They only understand one thing, force. We have all heard this interventionist neo-con garbage for decades but for some reason it still seems to work.

Likewise, Mother Agnes Miriam of the Cross, a Melkite Greek Catholic nun, was telling the truth earlier this summer when she told the Irish Times that the rebels were targeting Christians in Syria. She continued:

“The West and Gulf states must not give finance to armed insurrectionists who are sectarian terrorists, most of whom are from al-Qaeda, according to a report presented to the German parliament. … They bring terror, destruction, fear and nobody protects the civilians. [There were] very few Syrians among the rebels. …Mercenaries should go home.”

The reason that the weapons being funneled to the Syrian rebels are ending up in the hands of radical Islamists is because the rebels are radical Islamists. The founder of Doctors Without Borders noticed it after working with the wounded in Syria. German intelligence noticed it after an investigation suggested that up to 95 percent of the Syrian rebels are not Syrian.

It is a myth that the initial peaceful protests only turned violent reluctantly after they were met with force by the regime. In fact we see plans early on to turn events in Syria toward regime change. We saw it early in the 1996 US neo-conservative “Clean Break” study for then-Prime Minister Netanyahu, which urged him to “contain, destabilize, and roll-back” Syria and other countries in the region. We saw it more recently in numerous influential think tank studies like that of Brookings’ Saban Center’s oft-cited report early this year tellingly titled, “Saving Syria: Assessing Options for Regime Change.” Like the authors of the “Clean Break” paper, the Saban Center is heavily neo-conservative and pro-Likud.

In conclusion, here is the really bad news: As the US Syria policy falls apart, there is increasing danger that the built up tension in the region — particularly the disastrous decision of the Turkish government to support the rebels in Syria — is leading to a wider conflict that threatens to spin out of control. Turkey and Armenia are at each others throats, Armenia and Azerbaijan are preparing for war, Iraq warily watches chaos on its borders, Russia is installing its next-generation S-400 anti-aircraft missiles in its southern military region near Turkey, and so on. Backed into a corner by a failed policy, the US as usual is doubling down on a bad bet, feeding Turkey bogus intelligence about chemical arms shipments aboard Syrian passenger planes carrying Russian passengers, etc. Rebel mortars lobbed into Turkey give a desperate Erdogan government the pretext it needs to establish a buffer zone in Syria and hope for NATO reinforcements, which are not coming. French observer Thierry Meyssan writes that “Turkey [is] on the verge of a nervous breakdown” after NATO “packs it in” on Syria.

Editor’s Note: The above referenced document, “Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm,” can be found here. Additional information regarding the premeditated, US-engineered violence in Syria can be found here, “Syrian War: The Prequel.”

The Anti-Empire Report

October 2nd, 2012
by William Blum

Syria, the story thus far

“Today, many Americans are asking — indeed I ask myself,” Hillary Clinton said, “how can this happen? How can this happen in a country we helped liberate, in a city we helped save from destruction? This question reflects just how complicated, and at times, how confounding the world can be.” 1

The Secretary of State was referring to the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya September 11 that killed the US ambassador and three other Americans. US intelligence agencies have now stated that the attackers had ties to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.2

Yes, the world can indeed be complicated and confounding. But we have learned a few things. The United States began blasting Libya with missiles with the full knowledge that they were fighting on the same side as the al-Qaeda types. Benghazi was and is the headquarters for Muslim fundamentalists of various stripes in North Africa. However, it’s incorrect to claim that the United States (aka NATO) saved the city from destruction. The story of the “imminent” invasion of Benghazi by Moammar Gaddafi’s forces last year was only propaganda to justify Western intervention. And now the United States is intervening — at present without actual gunfire, as far as is known — against the government of Syria, with the full knowledge that they’re again on the same side as the al-Qaeda types. A rash of suicide bombings against Syrian government targets is sufficient by itself to dispel any doubts about that. And once again, the United States is participating in the overthrow of a secular Mideast government.

At the same time, the Muslim fundamentalists in Syria, as in Libya, can have no illusions that America loves them. A half century of US assaults on Mideast countries, the establishment of American military bases in the holy land of Saudi Arabia, and US support for dictatorships and for Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians have relieved them of such fanciful thoughts. So why is the United States looking to forcefully intervene once again? A tale told many times — world domination, oil, Israel, ideology, etc. Assad of Syria, like Gaddafi of Libya, has shown little promise as a reliable client state so vital to the American Empire.

It’s only the barrier set up by Russia and China on the UN Security Council that keeps NATO (aka the United States) from unleashing thousands of airborne missiles to “liberate” Syria as they did Libya. Russian and Chinese leaders claim that they were misled about Libya by the United States, that all they had agreed to was enforcing a “no-fly zone”, not seven months of almost daily missile attacks against the land and people of Libya. Although it’s very fortunate that the two powers refuse to give the US another green light, it’s difficult to believe that they were actually deceived last spring in regard to Libya. NATO doesn’t do peacekeeping or humanitarian interventions; it does war; bloody, awful war; and regime change. And they would undoubtedly be itching to show off their specialty in Syria — perhaps even without Security Council blessing — except that NATO and the US always prefer to attack people who are exceptionally defenseless, and Syria has ballistic missile capabilities and chemical weapons.

It’s likely that the American elections also serve to keep Obama from expanding the US role in Syria. He may have concluded that there are more votes in the Democratic Party base for peace this time than for waging war against his eighth (sic) country.

The propaganda bias in the Western media has been extreme. Day after day, month after month, we’ve been told of Syrian government attacks, using horrible means, almost invariably with the victims described as unarmed civilians; without any proof, often without any logic, that it was actually the government behind a particular attack, with the story’s source turning out to be an anti-government organization; rarely informing us of similar behavior on the part of the rebel forces. In May, the BBC included pictures of mass graves in Iraq in their coverage of an alleged Syrian government massacre in Houla, Syria. The station later apologized for the pictures saying that they had been submitted to the BBC by a rebel group. 3 On June 7, Germany’s leading daily, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, citing opponents of Assad, reported that the Houla massacre was in fact committed by anti-Assad Sunni militants, and that the bulk of the victims were members of the Alawi and Shia minorities, which have been largely supportive of Assad.

According to a report of Stratfor, the private and conservative American intelligence firm with high-level connections, many of whose emails were obtained by Wikileaks: “most of the [Syrian] opposition’s more serious claims have turned out to be grossly exaggerated or simply untrue.” They claimed “that regime forces besieged Homs and imposed a 72-hour deadline for Syrian defectors to surrender themselves and their weapons or face a potential massacre.” That news made international headlines. Stratfor’s investigation, however, found “no signs of a massacre”, and warned that “opposition forces have an interest in portraying an impending massacre, hoping to mimic the conditions that propelled a foreign military intervention in Libya.” Stratfor then stated that any suggestions of massacres were unlikely because the Syrian “regime has calibrated its crackdowns to avoid just such a scenario … that could lead to an intervention based on humanitarian grounds.”4

Democracy Now — long a standard of progressive radio-TV news — has been almost as bad as CNN and al Jazeera (the latter owned by Qatar, an active military participant in both Libya and Syria). The heavy bias of Democracy Now in this area goes back to the very beginning of the Arab Spring. The program made some unfortunate choices in its mideast news correspondents, seemingly only because they spoke Arabic and/or had contacts in the region. Where have you gone Amy Goodman? RT (Russia Today) has stood almost alone amongst English-language television news sources in offering an alternative to the official Western line.

Michel Chossudovsky of Global Research, notes that “Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now Syria are but a sequence of stops on a global roadmap of permanent war that also swings through Iran. Russia and China are the terminal targets.” When the Syrian government is overthrown — and in all likelihood the Western forces will not relent until that happens — the al Qaeda types will be dominant in the Syrian version of Benghazi. The American ambassador would be well advised to not visit.

Can you believe that I almost feel sorry for the American military?

In Afghanistan, the US military has tried training sessions, embedded cultural advisers, recommended reading lists, and even a video game designed to school American troops in local custom. But 11 years into the war, NATO troops and Afghan soldiers are still beset by a dangerous lack of cultural awareness, officials say, contributing to a string of attacks by Afghan police and soldiers against their military partners. Fifty-one coalition troops have been killed this year by their Afghan counterparts. While some insider attacks have been attributed to Taliban infiltrators, military officials say the majority stem from personal disputes and misunderstandings.

So the Afghan army is trying something new, most likely with American input: a guide to the strange ways of the American soldier. The goal is to convince Afghan troops that when their Western counterparts do something deeply insulting, it’s likely a product of cultural ignorance and not worthy of revenge. The pamphlet they’ve produced includes the following advice:

  • “Please do not get offended if you see a NATO member blowing his/her nose in front of you.”
  • “When Coalition members get excited, they may show their excitement by patting one another on the back or the behind. They may even do this to you if they are proud of the job you’ve done. Once again, they don’t mean to offend you.”
  • “When someone feels comfortable in your presence, they may even put their feet on their own desk while speaking with you. They are by no means trying to offend you. They simply don’t know or have forgotten the Afghan custom.” (Pointing the soles of one’s shoes at someone is considered a grievous insult in Afghanistan.)
  • The guide also warns Afghan soldiers that Western troops might wink at them or inquire about their female relatives or expose their private parts while showering — all inappropriate actions by Afghan standards.5

Hmmm. I wonder if the manual advises telling Afghan soldiers that urinating on dead Afghan bodies, cutting off fingers, and burning the Koran are all nothing more than good ol’ Yankee customs, meaning no offense of course.

And does it point out that no Afghan should be insulted by being tortured in an American military prison since the same is done at home to American prisoners.

Most importantly, the Afghan people must be made to understand that bombing them, invading them, and occupying them for 11 years are all for their own good. It’s called “freedom and democracy”.

I almost feel sorry for the American military in Afghanistan. As I’ve written about the US soldiers in Iraq, they’re “can-do” Americans, accustomed to getting their way, habituated to thinking of themselves as the best, expecting the world to share that sentiment, and they’re frustrated as hell, unable to figure out “why they hate us”, why we can’t win them over, why we can’t at least wipe them out. Don’t they want freedom and democracy? … They’re can-do Americans, using good ol’ American know-how and Madison Avenue savvy, sales campaigns, public relations, advertising, selling the US brand, just like they do it back home; employing media experts, psychologists, even anthropologists … and nothing helps. And how can it if the product you’re selling is toxic, inherently, from birth, if you’re ruining your customers’ lives, with no regard for any kind of law or morality, health or environment. They’re can-do Americans, used to playing by the rules — theirs; and they’re frustrated as hell.

In case you’re distressed about the possibility of a Romney-Ryan government, here’s some good news:

There are many people in the United States who are reluctant to be active against US foreign policy, or even seriously criticize it, because a Democrat is in the White House, a man promising lots of hope and change. Some of them, however, might become part of the anti-war movement if a Republican were in the White House, even though pursuing the same foreign policy. And we can be sure the policy would be the same for there’s no difference between the two parties when it comes to foreign policy. There’s simply no difference, period, though each party changes its rhetoric a bit depending on whether it’s in the White House or on the outside looking in.

Similarly, the movement for a national single-payer health insurance program has been set back because of President Obama. His health program is like prescribing an aspirin for cancer, but the few baby steps the program takes toward bringing the United States into the 21st century amongst developed nations is enough to keep many American health-care activists content for the time being, especially with Obama facing a tough election. They are satisfied with so little. With a Republican in the White House, however, there might be a resurgence of a more militant health-care activism.

Moreover, if the Republicans had been in power the past three years and done EXACTLY what Obama has done in the sphere of civil liberties and human rights, many Obamaites would have no problem calling the United States by its right name: a police state. I mean that literally. Not the worst police state in the history of the world. Not even the worst police state in the world today. But, nonetheless, a police state. Just read the news each day, carefully.

Sam Smith, editor of the Progressive Review, has written: “Barack Obama is the most conservative Democratic president we’ve ever had. In an earlier time, there would have been a name for him: Republican.”

Oh but there’s Social Security and Medicare, you say. Can Romney be trusted to not make serious cuts to these vital programs? His choice of running mate, Paul Ryan, is practically a poster child for such cuts.

Well, can Obama be trusted to not make such cuts? Consider this recent comment in the New York Times: “[Obama] particularly believes that Democrats do not receive enough credit for their willingness to accept cuts in Medicare and Social Security.” 6

As somebody once said, the United States doesn’t need a third party. It needs a second party.

The only important cause that might significantly benefit from a Democratic administration is appointments to the Supreme Court, if there is in fact an opening. But does this fully override the benefits of Obama being out of office as outlined above?

Dear Reader: I truthfully do not want to be so cynical. Despite the quips, it’s not really fun. But how else can one react to the Republicans and Democrats given their behavior at their recent conventions? If they can so obviously ignore the wishes of their own delegates, what can the average American citizen expect? Have a look at these remarkable scenes caught on video or read this account of the voice votes at the recent conventions.

How many voters does it take to change a light bulb?

None. Because voters can’t change anything.

So what to do?

As I’ve said before: Inasmuch as I can’t see violent revolution succeeding in the United States (something deep inside tells me that we couldn’t quite match the government’s firepower, not to mention its viciousness), I can offer no solution to stopping the imperial beast other than this: Educate yourself and as many others as you can, raising their political and ideological consciousness, providing them with the factual ammunition and arguments needed to sway others, increasing the number of those in the opposition until it raises the political price for those in power, until it reaches a critical mass, at which point … I can’t predict the form the explosion will take or what might be the trigger … But you have to have faith. And courage.

Some further thoughts on American elections and democracy:

Richard Reeves: “The American political system is essentially a contract between the Republican and Democratic parties, enforced by federal and state two-party laws, all designed to guarantee the survival of both no matter how many people despise or ignore them.”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832): “In politics, as on the sickbed, people toss from one side to the other, thinking they will be more comfortable.”

Alexander Cockburn: “There was a time once when ‘lesser of two evils’ actually meant something momentous, like the choice between starving to death on a lifeboat, or eating the first mate.”

U.N. Human Development Report, 1993: “Elections are a necessary, but certainly not a sufficient, condition for democracy. Political participation is not just a casting of votes. It is a way of life.”

Gore Vidal: “How to get people to vote against their interests and to really think against their interests is very clever. It’s the cleverest ruling class that I have ever come across in history. It’s been 200 years at it. It’s superb.”

Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius: “The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.”

Michael Parenti: “As demonstrated in Russia and numerous other countries, when faced with a choice between democracy without capitalism or capitalism without democracy, Western elites unhesitatingly embrace the latter.” – note-9

America’s Singular Path, Life After Israel

…by  Gordon Duff, Senior Editor

Anyone foolish enough to watch the news today saw the braying of Netanyahu, describing Muslims as medieval and backward.  Every other world leader was statesmanlike, responsible, in truth, exhausted with so many wars; you could see it in the faces at the UN General Assembly this week in New York.

Only Netanyahu showed up, buoyed by his plots, the rabid Murdoch press Americans have come to despise and his cabal of plotters, perhaps car bombs, derailed planes or more airline disasters, what Americans facing elections have come to call the “October surprise.”

Long ago, only hushed voices among the trusted and well informed admitted there was a dark “under layer” to politics, rigged voting, invented news events, staged terror attacks and the greatest tradition of all, announcements starting or ending wars.

“You can count on me Bibi, American troops to die for Israel and American children and grandchildren to pay for it all. I’ll make the Bush crowd look like Boy Scouts.

America is about sports analogies, and Netanyahu has “backed the wrong horse” with Romney.  He carries with him the dirt of a Las Vegas organized crime boss, hundreds of illegal offshore bank accounts and a long history of lying and, worst of all, getting caught.

It is difficult to admit, but it has been since Carter or some point as Reagan’s health failed that America has had weak leaders.

The unseen weaknesses of two Bush and one Clinton presidencies, unseen by all but insiders, sex scandals, pedophilia, homosexuality, Monica Lewinsky, the mental issues of the Bush family, severe depression, histories of addiction, we covered it all up.

We kept this from the American people and the world, but none of it was secret from the Mossad and the “phone hackers,” lobbyists and blackmailers in Washington that let American power and prestige, America’s banking system, even America’s law and faith in its leaders turn to nothing.

America has had a sickness, an infection of the soul, a generation raised on greed and class distinction, if war is profitable and only the poor fight and die, then war is good.

America was ripe for invasion. It could have been space aliens, it might have been, we wouldn’t know, would we?  We do know that, when President Obama stands in front of the UN General Assembly as titular head of the “free world,” that the “free” part isn’t so true and the vast American military is more the remains of two lost wars, 2 million crippled veterans and a nation closer to surrender than any time in its history.

Obama – when he looker younger. The office takes a toll.

I credit Obama for what he says, at least the parts related to a reality insiders accept, that he may actually wish for a freer world, for children who grow up with hope and opportunity.

I also see a man who has comprised so much, has stepped back so often, a man with empty pockets and hungry children telling the world how great his accomplishments are.

Bush 41 opened the door, Clinton tried to fight the onslaught, Bush 43 let the evil into the heart of America, stripping away her wealth, poisoning her soul.

He invited an international criminal conspiracy to feed off the lifeblood of the only people that could have shown resolve, shown leadership and provided the needed guidance to move our tiny planet past a century of strife into a new age.

Some call it the Israel lobby, some ramble on about Zionism and plots for a “greater Israel.”  Some talk race and religion, exploit the volatility and explosiveness that decades of drone warfare, of “crusader” invasions, of defilement of every spiritual value, public office or even a “blue ticket” guaranteeing them the promise of eternal life, perhaps the greatest conspiracy theory of all, and we allowed them to rule us.

Is it a wonder humanity suffers so much?

Over recent days, we have seen our weakness, how anger can be deflected against an America that has been so much less than it could be.  I watched Netanyahu drone on, talking only to an American audience, hoping to get them to share the “victimhood” he loves exploiting in Israel.

The Prime Minister of Smugness

His endless days are filled with his memories, selling furniture, his inferior intellect, his lack of athletic prowess, his unpopularity with women, these are his weaknesses.

His strengths are finding the weaknesses in others and hiding behind holocaust like a cowardly child clinging to his mother’s apron when payment comes due for acts of malice and depravity.

There has been a cost, those years from the early or mid 80’s, we aren’t sure when Reagan was “sidestepped” by the “parallelization” of Bush, a second CIA, private drug wars on 3 continents.

And then there is the $27.5 trillion in cash meant to secure America and build a peaceful and productive world, carefully cataloged into the Federal Reserve Banks and mysteriously “disappeared” into the coffers of the unnamed and unknown ruling few, the ones we call “blue ticket holders.”

By 1990, the Cold War was over, nuclear stockpiles had become useless relics, the vast armies of the world all ready for a 90% reduction and the promise of an avalanche of human endeavor and freedom was there for the picking except for one thing.

Not just America, but Canada and Britain, and so much of the fault lies with Germany, the gloating of NATO, the years of greed, of sweat shops, of oil profiteering and manipulation of food markets, the use of medical advances as a form of financial blackmail, the worship of money, of corruption, the worship of the differences that should have made us great, all these became signs of infection.

Israel is seen as the source of the disease, with its Washington lobby, its spying, its bribery and election rigging, its secret nuclear weapons and is control over the world’s media empires, none of it is hard to see today.

Netanyahu, when speaking before the general assembly, made it all so clear, a failed furniture salesman with delusions of grandeur, call him “sociopath” or “malignant narcissist”. He attempted to co-opt an American president at the most critical time in Israel’s imaginary history as conqueror of the world, other people’s soldiers, other people’s money, other people’s lives.

Under Netanyahu they wake up finding themselves alone, vulnerable and the bill coming due, the USS Liberty, the Mavi Marmara, Rachel Corrie and Gaza.  People do not forget.

Bibi Plays King of the World

During the entire length of the general assembly there was no hatred for the people of Israel, no mention of America’s Jewish population, no mention of race or hatred at all except by Netanyahu, titular king of Judea, where painting “Jesus is a Monkey” or using Washington think tanks for laundering money to fill the streets with demonstrators or ordering the murder of an American ambassador is nothing.

This is the nature of his illness.

Years ago, were I to have mentioned my suspicions about 9/11 to friends in government, few would notice.  Listening and repeating would be career death and, though the points were salient, traveling the path would lead to ruin.

So many knew, so many kept silent, so many saved their careers and move toward retirement, having sacrificed their manhood for a career, a promotion, a country club membership yet knowing that, through their silence, their complicity, the oath they gave, the nation they swore to protect, lies in tatters.

Their only hope is to garner enough stolen booty that their own children won’t be part of the one in five that goes to bed hungry in America each night.

Now I get the calls, asking what they can do to make a difference.  The answer is always the same.  “You saw the government overthrown and were silent.  You were ordered to commit war crimes and obeyed.  You became everything you grew up hating and come to me for absolution and I have none.”

Our military sacrificing our military, so that some of them may gain by avoiding the real enemies of America, both at home and abroad.

The American heroes you should have been, you were not.  The broken bodies of those who served you are your only legacy, that and a nation that despises you for your service.

What is left of America is on our streets, beaten by clubs, sprayed by mace, arrested and beaten, while you sit, Scotch in hand and listen to the droning of the cowards you have chosen to follow.

There is a choice.  Break the code of silence.  Admit the billions in drug dealing, the endless contractor theft, the killings, the torture, the kidnappings, you and your friends admit it all.

Tell us what you did to make the world hate America, to lessen the legacy of our era, what you personally did to make sure your generation would always be remember as America’s “worst.”

The writing is on the wall. There is no more room for doubt.  The books have been balanced, the lies are exposed, the crimes revealed, there is nothing left to hide.

Not everyone knows all but all is known by some.

I would not trade the life of every general in the Pentagon for the life of a single child.

The real facts behind Mittens ? Rumors circulate. Double Casino owner adelson give Mittens100 million. His Macao casino uses sex trafficked hookers alleged to be underage.

Bibi says R is his man after R visits Israel. What was in the opunch bowl? Mittens is given huge support which are shameless donations given by zionists and the public has no idea. Israel advertises it is the “gay capital” of the world. It is the sex trafficking, sex slavery capital of the world and also the organized crime capital of the world too.

It has more per capita perversion than anywhere else, even bangkok or the Reeperbahn in Hamburg. Functions as a communist country claiming democracy where there is none. Christians are conned into visiting via controlled tours, but are mocked and hated while powerful zionists inside America work hard to destroy all forms of Christianity and convert the USA to a noahide law based state.

Meanshile zionst controlled hiollywood and the six major mass media pump out well crafted scripts of dispensed USG propaganda which follows zionist guidelines. Most Jews are not zionists and would never approve of such actions by zionists who often are germans or english or russians, using claimed Jewish ethnicity as cover.

Torah Jews hate zionism and all babylonian talmudism, kaballah and trinket worship and have saisd so publicly. Bain capital has a shady history of vulture capitalism, someone t. boone pickins (the king of bustouts) would be proud out. If mittens is elected, zionism would probably be in 100% control and WW3 would ensue.

If Obama stays in power he will do what he can to take America into a NWO the Zbig way and zionistas will be thrown under the bus for good. Thus voting of Obama appears to be the lessor of two evils? Obama is a plant from a faction in the cia, and he has now gone off the reservation as designed. Israel thought he was their man, this company faction conned them and their neocon sidekicks and now the big switcharoo has occurred. This is the biggest covert op of the last 100 years.

The neocons of course are furious and so angry that they are losing it, becoming highly irrational and their colors are no easily visible for all to see. They have said, start our war with Iran and finish it for us, or we will put Mitttens in and he will do it.

The neocons and zionists will be completely exposed for 911 if they do not back off and stop interfering. At least that is the big rumor inside the highest echelons of the high Us military command. Obama and his top military commanders have decided to say no, continue to say no and stand firm.

This is one of the few times NO has ever been said to israel and first time to neocons. JFK was the first to say no to Israel and it got him murdered. Bibi knows his time is short because he and his boys did most of the 911 dirty work for the neocons, but actually have served as cutouts, allowing a secret rogue faction in the USAF high command to maintain deniability for their stand-down. Reagan said no to the Isrealis after the Cobert Towers bombing and refused to start a mideast war for Israel.

So Bush1 tried to have him assassinated on their behalf for daring to say no. And as Kevin Barret has correctly pointed out, Bibi knows the jig is about for him and thanks to the Internet, the truth about the Israeli part in the 911 attacks is spready rapidly. Almost all of the high military command knows. Unless the US gets involved in another big mideast war starting in Syria, Iran or both, he is finished. Do top Mormons secretly claim to be a tribe of zionists and are they committed to working secret for them?

The one big unknown is the alleged backchannel occult based relationships of top leaders in these mideast countries that are posturing war. Will they make deals for limited wars to follow a pre-agreed script? If so, can this go wrong and get out of control?

Who of US did 9/11 … and Why?

By W J Anthony

Americans are at the crossroad of our future  – must live by our credibility.

Either we compel our Government to reveal the whole truth about the destruction that took place on the eleventh of September 2001 and thereby prove to the people of the world, that we, as a people, tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and we can be trusted evermore… or we, as a nation and a people, will be forever known by people throughout the world and throughout history as ignorant fools or dishonest cowards who are afraid to confront our leaders who lied and did whatever they could to deceive US to believe that 19 Arab hijackers destroyed the World Trade Center and attacked the Pentagon.

Indisputable evidence has been presented by Dimitri Khalezov, who explained What caused the explosions that destroyed Buildings 1, 2 and 7 of the World Trade Center in New York and What struck the Pentagon in Washington, DC on 9/11 … and … Why.

The dimensions of the following document are profound and challenging.

Mr. President,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I thank the Almighty God for having once more the chance to participate in this

We have gathered here to ponder and work together for building a better life for

the entire human community and for our nations.

Coming from Iran, the land of glory and beauty, the land of knowledge,

culture, wisdom and morality, the cradle of philosophy and mysticism, the

land of compassion and light, the land of scientists, scholars, philosophers,

masters of literature, and writers, the land of Avicenna, Ferdowsi, Hafiz,

Maulana, Attar, Khayyam, and Shariar, I represent a great and proud nation

that is a founder of human civilization and an inheritor of respected universal

I represent a conscious nation which is dedicated to the cause of

freedom, peace and compassion, a nation that has experienced the agony and

bitter times of aggressions and imposed wars, and profoundly values the

blessings of peace and stability.

I am now here for the eighth time in the eighth year of my service to my

noble people in this august assembly of sisters and brothers from across

the world, to show to the world that my noble nation like its brilliant past,

has a global vision and welcomes any effort intended to provide and promote

peace, stability and tranquility which can be only realized through

harmony, cooperation and joint management of the world.

I am here to voice the divine and humanitarian message of learned men and

women of my country to you and to the whole world; a message that Iran’s great

orator and poet, presented to humanity in his eternal two-line poetry:

Human beings are members of a whole, In creation of one essence and soul,

If one member is afflicted with pain   Other members uneasy will remain,

I have talked in the past seven years about the current challenges, solutions

and prospects of the future world. Today I want to raise and discuss such issues from

a different perspective.

Thousands of years has passed since children of Adam (peace be upon Him)

started to settle down in various parts of Earth.

Peoples of different colors, tastes, languages, customs and traditions pursued

persistently to fulfill their aspirations to build a noble society for a more

beautiful life blessed with lasting peace, security and happiness.

Despite all efforts made by righteous people and justice seekers, and the

sufferings and pains endured by masses of people in the quest to achieve happiness

and victory, the history of mankind, except in rare cases, is marked with unfulfilled

dreams and failures.

Imagine for a moment:

-Had there been no egoism, distrust, malicious behaviors, and dictatorships

with no one violating the rights of others;

– Had humanitarian values been viewed as the criterion for social dignity in

place of affluence and consumerism,

– Had humanity not experienced the dark age of medieval periods, and centers

of power not hindered the flourishing of knowledge and constructive thoughts,

– Had the wars of Crusade and the ensuing periods of slavery and colonialism

not happened, and had the inheritors of these dark periods followed a course on the

premises of humanitarians principles,

– Had the first and second World Wars in Europe, the wars in Korea, Vietnam,

Africa, Latin America, and in the Balkans not happened, and if instead of the

occupation of Palestine and imposition of a fake government, displacement and

genocide of millions of people around the globe, the truth behind these wars had been

revealed based on justice,

– Had Saddam Hussein not invaded Iran, and had the big powers supported the

rights of Iranian people instead of siding with Saddam,

– If the tragic incident of September 11, and the military actions against

Afghanistan and Iraq that left millions killed and homeless had not happened, and if,

instead of killing and throwing the culprit into the sea without trial or without

informing the world and people of America, an independent fact-finding team had

been formed to make the general public aware of the truth behind the incident, and

prepare for bringing to justice the perpetrators,

– Had extremism or terrorism not been used to secure political goals,

– Had the arms been turned into pens, and military expenditures been used to

promote well-being and amity among nations,

– Had the drum of ethnic, religious or racial conflicts not been beaten, and if

differences had not been used for the purpose of advancing political agendas,

– Had the right to criticize the hegemonic policies and actions of the world

Zionism been recognized to allow the world media to freely report and shed light on

the realities, instead of taking deceitful gestures of backing freedom bent on offending

the sanctities and most sacred beliefs of human beings and divine messengers, who as

the purest and most compassionate human beings are the gift of the Almighty to

– Had the Security Council not been under the domination of a limited number

of governments, thus disabling the United Nations to carry out its responsibilities on a

just and equitable basis,

– If the international economic institutions had not been under pressure and

were allowed to perform their duties and functions by using their expertise based on

fairness and justice,

Had the world capitalists not weakened or victimized the economies of

nations in order to make up for their own mistakes,

– If integrity and honesty had prevailed on the international relations, and all

nations and governments were treated equally and justly in the global efforts to build

and expand happiness for the entire mankind,

– And if tens of other unfavorable situations had not occurred in human life,

– Imagine how beautiful and pleasant our lives and how lovely the history of

mankind would have been.

– Let us take a look at the world situation today.

a): The Economic Situation

-Poverty is on the rise and the gap is widening between the rich and the poor.

-Total foreign debt of 18 industrial countries has exceeded 60 trillion dollars,

whilst the repayment of half of this amount is sufficient to eradicate poverty in the

-Economies dependent on consumerism and exploitation of people only serve

the interests of a limited number of countries.

-Creation of worthless paper assets by using influence and control over the

world’s economic centers constitutes the greatest abuse of history, and is considered a

major contributor to global economic crisis.

-It has been reported that only 32 trillions of paper assets were printed by one

government alone.

-Development planning based on capitalist economy that runs in a vicious

circle, triggers unhealthy and devastating competitions and is a failed practice.

b) The Cultural Situation:

From the standpoint of the politicians who control the world power centers,

concepts such as moral principles, purity, honesty, integrity, compassion and selfsacrifice

are rejected as defunct and outdated notions, and an impediment to the

accomplishment of their goals. They openly talk about their disbelief in the relevance

of ethics to the political and social affairs.

Pure and indigenous cultures as the product of centuries – old efforts of

nations, the common denominator reflecting human profound feeling and love

towards beauties, and the force which breeds diversity, cultural vividness, and social

dynamism, are under constant attacks, and susceptible to extinction.

A specific life style devoid of individual or social identity is being imposed

on nations by organized and systematic destruction and humiliation of identities.

Family as the noblest institution of societies and a center emanating love and

humanity has been seriously weakened and its constructive role is on the decline.

Woman’s sublime role and personality, as a heavenly being, a manifestation

of divine image and beauty, and the main pillar of every society, has been damaged

and abused by the powerful and the wealthy.

Human soul has become frustrated and the essence of humankind humiliated

and suppressed.

c): Political and Security.Situation

Unilateralism, application of double standards, and imposition of wars,

instability and occupations to ensure economic interests, and expand dominance over

sensitive centers of the world have turned to be the order of the day.

Arms race and intimidation by nuclear weapons and weapons of mass-

‘destruction by the hegemonic powers have become prevalent: Testing new

generations of ultra-modern weaponry and the pledge to disclose these armaments on

due time is now being used as a new language of threat against nations to coerce them

into accepting a new era of hegemony. Continued threat by the uncivilized Zionists to

resort to military action against our great nation is a clear example of this bitter

-A state of mistrust has cast its shadow on the international relations, whilst

there is no trusted or just authority to help resolve world conflicts.

– No one feels secure or safe even those who have stockpiled thousands of

atomic bombs and other arms in their arsenals.

d): The Environmental Situation

-The environment as a common wealth and heritage of the entire humankind

and a constant guarantor of man’s survival has been seriously damaged and devastated

as a result of irresponsible and excessive use of resources particularly by capitalists

across the world, a situation that has caused massive drought, flood, and pollutions

inflicting irreparable damage and jeopardizing seriously human life on Earth.

Dear Colleagues

Despite advances in scientific knowledge and technology, the aspirations of

Adam’s children have not yet been fulfilled.

Does anybody believe that continuation of the current order is capable of

bringing happiness for human society.’?

Today everyone is discontent and disappointed with the current international

Dear Colleagues,

Human beings do not deserve to be under continued sufferings of the present

situation. God of wisdom and compassion who loves all human beings has not

ordained such a destiny for mankind. He has ordered human, as the Supreme

Creature, to make the best and most beautiful life on Earth along with justice, 10re,

and dignity.

We must, therefore, think of a solution.

Who is responsible for all these sufferings and failures?

Some people try to justify that everything is normal and a reflection of divine

will, putting the blame on nations as responsible for all prevalent vices and evils.

They are of the opinion that:

-It is the nations that succumb to discrimination and tyranny;

-It is the nations that surrender to dictatorship and greed;

-It is the nations that accept the hegemony of Arrogant and expansionist powers;

-It is the nations that are influenced by the propaganda tactics of powers, and

most all vices in our world are the result of their passive attitudes with the inclination

to live under the supremacy of the world powers.

-These are the arguments raised by those who tend to blame nations for the

unfavorable conditions prevailing in the world, with the intention to justify the

attitudes and destructive behaviors of the ruling minority.

-These claims, supposedly authentic, can not in any way justify continuation

of the present oppressive international order. Indeed, Poverty is imposed on nations,

and powers’ ambitions and goals are pursued either through deceits or resort to force.

-To justify their inhuman actions, they propagate the theory based on ‘ the

Survival of the fittest’.

-While in principle, most governments and nations of justice-seeking people

are humble and submissive in the face of Right, and are after fostering dignity,

prosperity and constructive interactions.

-Masses of people never want to expand their territories, nor do they seek to obtain

legendary wealth. They have no disputes among themselves in principles and have

never played any role in the creation of any disastrous events in the course of history.

-I do not believe that Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and

others have any problems, or are hostile against each other. They get along together

comfortably and live together in an atmosphere of peace and amity. They are all

devoted to the cause of justice, purity and love.

-The general tendency of nations has always been to accomplish positive

common aspirations reflecting exalted divine and human beauties and nobilities.

-The current abysmal situation of the world and the bitter incidents of history are

due mainly to the wrong management of the world and the self-proclaimed centers of

power who have entrusted themselves to the Devil.

-The order that is rooted in the anti-human thoughts of slavery and the old and

new colonialism are responsible for poverty, corruption, ignorance, oppression and

discrimination in every corner of the world.

The current world order has certain characteristics, some of which are as follows:

– It is founded on materialism, and that is why it is in no way bound to moral

-It has been shaped according to selfishness, deception, hatred and

– It believes in classification of human beings, humiliation of other nations,

trampling upon the rights of others and their domination.

– It seeks to expand its domination by spreading discord and conflicts

amongst ethnic groups and nations.

-It aims to monopolize power, wealth, science and technology.

Policies of the world’s main centers of power are based on the principles of

domination and the conquering of others. These centers only seek

supremacy, and are not in favor of peace and definitely not at the service

of their nations.

-Are we to believe that those who spend hundreds of millions of dollars on

election campaigns have the interests of the people of the world at their hearts?

-Despite what big political parties claim in the capitalistic countries, the

money that goes into election campaigns is usually nothing but an investment.

-In such countries, people have to vote for parties that only represent a small

number of people.

-The will and the views of the masses have the least impact and influence on

the big decisions especially those made about the major domestic and foreign

policies. Their voices are not heard even if they constitute 99% of their

-Human and ethical values are sacrificed in order to win votes and the

willingness to listen to the demands of the people has become only a tool at

the time of election.

– The current world order is discriminatory and based on injustice.

Distinguished Friends and Colleagues,

What should be done and what is the way out of the current situation?

There is no doubt that the world is in need of a new order and a fresh way of

1- An order in which man is recognized as God’s Supreme Creature, enjoying

material and spiritual qualities and possessing a pure and divine nature

filled with a desire to seek justice and truth.

2- An order that aims to revive human dignity and believes in universal

happiness and perfection.

_ An order which is after peace, lasting security and welfare for all walks of

life around the globe.

_An order that is founded upon trust and kindness and brings thoughts,

hearts and hands closer to each other. Rulers must love people.

A just and fair order in which everybody is equal before law and in which

there is no double standard.

Leaders of the world must regard themselves as committed servants of

their people, not their superiors.

Authority is a sacred gift from people to their rulers, not a chance to amass

power and wealth.

Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Is it possible to have such an order without having everybody’s contribution to

the way the world is run?

It is abundantly evident that when all the people and governments start to think

and commit themselves to the above-mentioned principles and become

sensitive to the internationally important issues and participate in decision makings,

their wishes find a chance to be materialized.

By raising collective awareness, the seeking of a joint global management

becomes more vivid with the chances of its implementation increased.

Therefore, Together We Need to:

1-Place our trust in God Almighty and stand against the acquisitive minority with

all our might, so that they become isolated, and can no longer decide the

destiny of other nations.

2-Believe in the God’s bounty of blessing and mercy and seek it in the integration

and unity of human societies. Governments emerging from the free will of

nations must believe in their own ceaseless capabilities and know that they can

achieve victory if they vigorously fight the unjust order and defend human

3-Pave the ground for the joint global management by insisting upon justice in all

its aspects, strengthen unity, friendship and expand economic, social, cultural

and political interactions in independent and specialized organizations.

4-Care about the interests of all the people of the world and join hands to reform

the current structures of the UN with our joint efforts and coordination.

It is necessary to note that the UN belongs to nations. Thus, the

existence of discrimination amongst the members is a great insult to all. The

existence of discrimination and monopoly in the UN is in no way acceptable.

5-Have more coordinated efforts to generate and propagate and firmly establish

the language needed for designing the required structures of the joint global

management filled with justice, love and freedom.

Participation in global management is the basis of lasting peace.

The Non-Aligned Movement as the second largest trans-regional group after

the UN, held its 16th summit in Tehran with the motto of

“Joint Global Management”,  cognizant of the importance of this issue and

the shortcomings of the current mismanagement in the emergence of crises

and problems afflicting the world today.

During the Summit, participating Heads of State and representatives of

more than 120 countries underscored the necessity of a more serious

and effective participation of all nations in the global management.

-Fortunately, we are now at a historic juncture. On one hand, Marxism is no

longer around and is practically eliminated from the management systems,

on the other, capitalism is bogged down in a self-made quagmire. It has

indeed reached a deadlock and does not seem to be able to come up

with any noteworthy solution to the various economic, political, security

and cultural problems of the world.

NAM is proud to once again emphasize the rightfulness of its historic

decision to reject the poles of power and the unbridled hegemony ruling

the world.

On behalf of the members of NAM, I would like to invite all countries of

the world to play a more active role in making it possible for everybody

to contribute to the global decision-making processes.

The need to remove the structural barriers and encourage the

process of universal participation in global management has never been

greater before.

The UN lacks the efficiency to bring about the required changes. If this

inefficiency persists, nations will lose hope in the global structures to defend

their rights.

If the UN is not restructured, international interactions and the spirit of

collective global cooperation will be tarnished and the standing of the

UN will be damaged.

The UN that has been created with the purpose of expanding justice and

reinstitution of the universal rights has in practice been engulfed by discrimination

preparing a supportive ground for the domination of a few powerful countries.

Consequently, UN’s inefficiency has been on the rise. Moreover, the existence of

the veto right and monopolization of power in the Security Council have made it

nearly impossible to defend the rights of the nations.

The issue of UN re-structuring is very vital and is a need that has been

emphasized time and again by the representatives of nations, a goal that has

not yet been accomplished.

I would like to urge the honorable members of the United Nations and H.E.

the Secretary General and his colleagues to place this issue high on their

agenda and devise an appropriate mechanism to make it happen.

NAM stands ready to aid the UN in this essential endeavor.

Mr. President, Friends and Dear Colleagues,

Creating peace and lasting security with decent life for all, although a great

and a historic mission can be accomplished. The Almighty God has not left

us alone in this mission and has said that it will surely happen. If it doesn’t,

then it will be contradictory to his wisdom.

-God Almighty has promised us a man of kindness, a man who loves people

and loves absolute justice, a man who is a perfect human being and is named

Imam A1-Mahdi, a man who will come in the company of Jesus Christ

(PBUH) and the righteous.

By using the inherent potential of all the worthy men and women of all

nations and I repeat, the inherent potential of “all the worthy men and women

of all nations” he will lead humanity into achieving its glorious and eternal ideals.

-The arrival of the Ultimate Savior will mark a new beginning, a rebirth and a

resurrection. It will be the beginning of peace, lasting security and genuine

-His arrival will be the end of oppression, immorality, poverty, discrimination

and the beginning of justice, love and empathy.

-He will come and he will cut through ignorance, superstition, prejudice by

opening the gates of science and knowledge. He will establish a world brimful

of prudence and he will prepare the ground for the collective, active and

constructive participation of all in the global management.

-He will come to grant kindness, hope, freedom and dignity to all humanity as

a gift.

-He will come so mankind will taste the pleasure of being human and being in

the company of other humans.

-He will come so that hands will be joined, hearts will be filled with love and

thoughts will be purified to be at service of security, welfare and happiness for

-He will come to return all children of Adam irrespective of their skin colors

to their innate origin after a long history of separation and division linking

them to eternal happiness.

-The arrival of the Ultimate Savior, Jesus Christ and the Righteous will bring

about an eternally bright future for mankind, not by force or waging wars but

through thought awakening and developing kindness in everyone. Their arrival

will breathe a new life in the cold and frozen body of the world. He will bless

humanity with a spring that puts an end to our winter of ignorance, poverty

and war with the tidings of a season of blooming.

-Now we can sense the sweet scent and the soulful breeze of the spring, a

spring that has just begun and doesn’t belong to a specific race, ethnicity,

nation or a region, a spring that will soon reach all the territories in Asia,

Europe, Africa and the US.

-He will be the spring of all the justice-seekers, freedom-lovers and the

followers of heavenly prophets. He will be the spring of humanity and the

greenery of all ages.

-Let us join hands and clear the way for his eventual arrival with empathy and

cooperation, in harmony and unity. Let us march on this path to salvation for

the thirsty souls of humanity to taste immortal joy and grace.

Long live this spring, long live this spring and long live this spring.

Thank you.”

Iran rejects meddling in regional states` affairs

By Gordon Duff

Today we are faced with a political contest in the United States where two parties, both long blurred, both scarred, both showing signs of corruption stand against each other.

There is a lesson in the American electoral system, one few Americans admit openly but all know too well. Any idea of democracy in America died long ago.

This contest, coming up in a few short weeks, will mean “life or death” for the future of mankind. A group of insidious master criminals, some representing terrorist elements within the Israeli society, drugs, human trafficking/prostitution, gambling and financial corruption are running Mitt Romney, one of “their own,” one of a long series of “gangster candidates” that constitute proof that democracy, as described by Mencken, is little more than “mob rule.”

Journalist H. L. Mencken, had he not died in 1956, would have been 100 years old just before the 1980 presidential election. America elected an actor, who, for 8 years, played the part of a great world leader though, through much of his term in office, he was mentally deficient due to the onset of dementia.

Mencken never liked democracy, he hated Hitler, was thought to despise Jews and, yet, was one of the most outspoken and respected men of his time. Were he alive today, he would have starved, his ideas would seem as original and uncontrolled, perhaps the greatest imaginable sin in today’s world.

In a column in the Baltimore Evening Sun in 1920, Mencken said:

“The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality.

But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre-the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

It wasn’t until the election of 2000, and the ascension of George W. Bush, representing international organized crime and promising war and financial collapse with the profits to those who saw him “appointed” to office that America got its “moron.”

When it became clear that the two “Bush Wars” were lost and the world’s economy had slid into a collapse it would never recover from, the same group decided to run John McCain, a mentally unstable Senator believed by key military and intelligence groups to have been psychologically broken and turned into a “Manchurian Candidate,” a “brainwashed” foreign agent planted inside the US government by the Soviet Union.

McCain, tasked with winning an election and spending his time as president as he has spent his decades in the Senate, as a lackey of organized crime, lost. The real fault was Bush (41) whose actual popularity had descended to 8%.

When the Supreme Court appointed him president by a 5/4 decision, his real popularity was about 15%, more than enough to justify assuming office when the national press has been silenced.

Few know this, but intelligence agencies get most of their information from the press. It is called “open source intelligence” and comes in two classes, the things people are told to believe and, more importantly, the efforts gone to in order to hide the truth.

Years ago, there was some free press; in America it was men like Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather. We watched the last of this group, Rather, be systematically destroyed by the Bush family in order to protect a handful of family secrets.

We will discuss this and a few of those secrets later on.

What has to be taken into account is that Americans are perfectly willing to accept life in the world Mencken describes, to serve the moronic, the corrupt, the genuinely evil. I still remember Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu speaking before the combined congress of the United States, his every mumbling inanity, a speech continually punctuated with ignorance, a man infamous to all world leaders as a pathological liar and the audience, America’s elected officials, spent the entire time on their feet cheering and clapping.

I had promised I would discuss Dan Rather. Rather was the anchor at CBS News, America’s greatest news organization, once years ago anyway. It is probably the “CBS News” from the period of Dan Rather or his mentor, Walter Cronkite that represents the basis for the HBO series, “Newsroom,” whose stinging commentaries on contemporary hypocrisy in politics and media shocked the nation.

Cronkite, who presided over the newscasts announcing the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, was not an adherent to conspiracies. However, by 1972, when President Nixon was caught rigging an election through a wide variety of criminal acts, it was Walter Cronkite, even more than “Woodward and Bernstein,” that exposed American politics and the totalitarian lengths Nixon was capable of.

It was Rather that replaced Cronkite. Then, in 2004, Dan Rather ran a story reporting that George W. Bush had avoided military service in Vietnam through trickery and deceit. Rather was fired from what was the most important job in journalism though it was common knowledge that the information he reported was totally true and totally documented.

Rather had to be silenced, he knew too much, so much that unless he agreed to “disappear into the sunset,” he would suffer a fate far worse than public humiliation for quality journalism and “truth telling.”

But what did he know?

About the Kennedy assassination, there were several issues involving George H. W. Bush, later the 41st president of the United States.

Immediately after the Kennedy shooting, Bush was seen standing in the doorway of the Texas School Book Depository, the same building where it was once believed that a Lee Oswald had been involved in the Kennedy killing.

The photographs clearly identify Bush; there is no question of it. Men dressed as police officers standing with Bush were photographed wearing “earpieces” used only by security agency personnel.

Then, a week after the killing, FBI chief, J. Edgar Hoover, in a letter to the State Department, identified “George Herbert Walker Bush” as a CIA agent.

The 1972 election, which led to the Watergate scandal and the resignation of Richard Nixon, was rigged in more ways than simply wiretapping and campaign sabotage.

This was a three-way race as in 1968. Oh, did we fail to mention that the candidate running against Nixon in 1968 was the brother of assassinated president John F. Kennedy, Robert, who was ahead in the polls by over 15%, a clear winner in the November election?

He was assassinated in 1968 after winning the California primary. A “Palestinian supporter” was arrested and is still in prison, Sirhan Sirhan, though, initially, police sought others for the crime and the shell casings involved in the killing didn’t come from a weapon in the possession of the man arrested and convicted. Eleven shots were fired.

Present in the room at the Ambassador Hotel were three CIA agents later suspected in complicity in the murder of the brother, part of an operation known as JMWAVE. These men are Chief of Operations David Morales, Chief of Maritime Operations Gordon Campbell and Chief of Psychological Warfare Operations George Joannides, according to the BBC.

In considering the need to destroy Dan Rather, his role in reporting 9/11 and the mysterious arrests of the Israeli team that bombed the George Washington Bridge that day was paramount.

It was necessary that Rather be destroyed and totally out of journalism when the 9/11 Commission released its report. His broadcast is available and shows that arrests were made that were never reported, something that would have destroyed the Bush presidency.

Once Robert Kennedy was killed, only George Wallace, the third party candidate that had helped Nixon get elected in1968, after the second Kennedy Murder, had to be “taken out.” An analysis of the fate of George Wallace is as follows:

“On 15th May, 1972, Arthur Bremer tried to assassinate Wallace. At a presidential campaign rally in Laurel, Maryland. Wallace was hit four times. Three other people, Alabama State Trooper Captain E. C. Dothard, Dora Thompson, a Wallace campaign volunteer, and Nick Zarvos, a Secret Service agent, were also wounded in the attack.

Mark Felt of the Federal Bureau of Investigation immediately took charge of the case. According to the historian Dan T. Carter (The Politics of Rage), Felt had a trusted contact in the White House: Charles Colson. Felt gave Colson the news. Within 90 minutes of the shooting Richard Nixon and Colson are recorded discussing the case. Nixon told Colson that he was concerned that Bremer ‘might have ties to the Republican Party or, even worse, the President’s re-election committee.’ Nixon also asked Colson to find a way of blaming George McGovern for the shooting.

Over the next few hours, Colson and Felt talk six times on the telephone. Felt gave Colson the address of Bremer’s home. Colson now phoned E. Howard Hunt and asked him to break-in to Bremer’s apartment to discover if he had any documents that linked him to Nixon.”

Sources indicate that Dan Rather holds proof of complicity on behalf of, not only George H.W. Bush but George W. Bush as well in the planning of the 1972 shooting of Wallace so conveniently blamed on other “conspirators” as listed above.

Are we establishing a pattern here? One even more obvious is the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan, though unsuccessful, it would have propelled George H.W. Bush, the man we could tie a decade after decade of intrigue, to an early presidency.

“On the night after the assassination attempt, Scott Hinckley, John Hinckley Jr.’s brother was scheduled to have dinner with Neil Bush, who is Vice President Bush Sr.’s son. They intelligently canceled the dinner after some of the media picked up on this story.”

The American press has been silenced and that silencing has not just continued but expanded to armies of operatives dominating internet websites, endless millions of emails, social networks, search engines, cleansing the internet of unpleasant facts, scouring our consciousness of freedom of thought.
